Urban Decay
History is hidden deep within the cities falling walls. The inevitable decay of the abandoned is overlooked and seemingly unimportant. The beauty is hidden within the walls where only the brave and inquisitive dare to venture. Discovery is a blessing to those like me, who look past the sterile landscape of the city into the grimy abyss of the hidden.
The Abandoned
This series was shot digitally in Gary, Indiana and Harvey, Illinois at multiple locations between 2009-2011. I also shot a series in film that have not been scanned into the computer because they were printed by hand in a darkroom.
The many buildings in Gary, Indiana have been abandoned since the decline of the steel industry and can be easily accessed today. These buildings are not stable and thus are dangerous but many still photograph them. The history of this city is buried deep within the decay.

Detroit Aug. 2011
